The countdown is on!

When I was getting ready for our wedding 4 years ago, I started my daily countdown at 100 days. I guess that means it's time for a baby countdown!  I found a cute countdown sign on Pinterest, but knew I needed to create my own. So I went to JoAnn fabrics and voila!!!

So other than being pretty crafty this week I have started to realize that I really am 8 months pregnant! It's starting to get uncomfortable when I bend over to pick things up or put my socks on. My clothes continue to shrink in length (something I have been used to my whole life) and the interesting sleep patterns are beginning. Some nights I wake up at 4am and can't get back to sleep. Other nights I can't fall asleep until midnight. In the words of my midwife: "welcome to baby time!".  It's allll worth it :)

8.5 weeks.....

So I'm really starting to get exciting as we slowly get more and more baby things into the house. It's really feeling real! Our first baby shower is only 2 weeks away and I'm excited to celebrate with our family and friends.

I also came to the realization that our baby is likely to be born just a few weeks before Halloween. So I will need a newborn Halloween costume! I decided to search etsy for some ideas and came across this cute pumpkin hat. I just couldn't say no to it.

The other big thing that is new is that we have officially picked out our crib and changing table! We went down to Hampton Falls last weekend with Mom and Dad to Baby Go Round, my first Baby Boutique. After lots of deliberation, we decided on a Baby's Dream crib and changer. The changer really got us excited because once we are done using the changer for the baby, the whole piece of furniture flips upside down to be a flat top dresser and the changing table sides become the legs. It's a very cool idea that I think other companies are going to pick up on.

From the photo on the left, we purchased the crib and the bureau/changer on the right side. We may consider buying the taller chest at some point as well. It converts to a toddler bed, day bed and the full sized bed as well, so we purchased the adult bed rails and will get the toddler rail in the very near future. (We probably should have bought it last weekend).

The color is slate, and I love it! It matches our nursery walls, which I would call a slate green, very well and we even got to take the changing table home with us last weekend. The only downside is that we had to order the crib and its 8-10 weeks lead time. So.....we're hoping it comes in early and baby boy is late!

30 weeks.....10 to go!

I think I lost some of my readers because I waited so long between posts. Oh well.... I'll just have to be more timely with my updates :)

Today marks 30 weeks. Don't mind the sleepy eyes in the photo. More on that later.... The time has really flown by. All of my appointments have gone really well, I had no problems with iron or gestational diabetes. I got my Rogam shot (for having O- blood type) and though I didn't realize it goes into your butt.....I think I'm glad that I didn't know ahead of time :) If Baby Boy is O- as well, then I won't need another shot. If he's anything else, I will need it if I plan on having more children. Which I do.

The biggest difference I noticed in the past 2 weeks is my energy level. I seem to be pretty good from 8am until 8pm. Outside of those hours.... I am part human part zombie. So getting up for work has been challenging, luckily P&G has been very accommodating and understanding of my choice to work only 8 hours, and no more. So my hours have gone from 7:00 to 4:30 or 5 down to 8-4 or 4:30. Which is nice. I have officially filed for disability, which is what covers maternity leave in more companies and my last day of work will be October 1. I'm very lucky that disability will cover 2 weeks before my due date. So I get time to relax, sleep and do some nesting as long as Baby Boy doesn't come early.

The other big change that is not helping my sleepiness, is that I'm not sleeping through the night. For the past week, I've been waking up 2-4 times in the middle of the night. My body is getting ready for baby time. The good news: I usually roll over, look at the clock and fall back asleep without any problems.

I have an ultrasound in 2 weeks (Aug 21) to make sure Baby Boy is growing UP in my uterus. At my 20 week appointment there was a 1.9cm measurement from the uterus to the placenta (Placenta Previa). The target is 2cm or more. So lucky me (really, no sarcasm!) I get another ultrasound at 32 weeks :)  My ultrasound tech and midwife were both very positive that I should be fine by 32 weeks..... but the ultrasound will tell. And I get to see Baby boy again. :)

I have been making some craftiness for the nursery in the past few weeks too. My favorite is the flower lights that I made (thank you Pinterest) from cupcake papers. I have a few more ideas, but they are more ambitious, so we'll see if they get completed (or even started) in the next 10 weeks. I'm good with paper, but when it comes to yarn, I tend to struggle a bit more. Wish me luck!

10 weeks to go....or so...until we get to meet baby boy! I'm very excited, and Chris is too.
