My last post was at 20 weeks. I'm now 28 1/2 weeks (half weeks count, right?). So let's share some of the things that have happened in the past 8 weeks after finding out it's a boy....
At 22 weeks I was finally 'certain' that I could feel kicks. In fact, so certain that even Chris could feel them. And it was Father's Day. Kinda cool.
Also around 22 weeks..... I became 'obviously' pregnant. To the point where people started asking if I was pregnant.....and everyone knows you don't ask...unless you are certain. I still have the urge to tell someone "pregnant? no...." just to see their reaction. But I'm too excited to tell them I am!
At 25 weeks I finally hung up my non-maternity clothes and went on the hunt for jeans that would work for the next 3 months. It started with a bit of devastation when I ripped one of my last two pairs of 'fat jeans' that I was still wearing. It was definitely a sign from the pregnancy Gods.
At 26 weeks came the angry frustration of..... all maternity pants are actually SHORTER than normal pants. Not good for this 5'10" girl. So I started looking online and found a pair of Long Maternity pants from Motherhood to try. Unforutnately....I ordered Medium, and they were too small. Back to the post office I went. A few days later I got an email that they were sold out of large. AWESOME.
At 27 weeks (and I must say the two weeks between when I should be wearing maternity and now.....were mentally and phsycially challenging. I didn't want to go to work and even seriously considered wearing my Yoga pants) my awesome Mother in Law and awesome sister took me shopping. FINALLY some success! I found one pair of Large Long Motherhood pants at Macys. $40. I wasn't going to complain on price....they fit. Two days later..... Valerie aka 'the deal shoopper' took me to Gap. We hit the jackpot. Two pairs of 10 Long maternity pants were WAITING for us on the clearance rack for $11.99.
So the first question everyone asks me is 'how are you feeling'. Which I always respond GREAT! it's true....it really is. But honestly....even if it wasn't.... I'd still say it. No one REALLY wants to hear about the bad parts of pregnancy. Unless you're my mom, sister or best friend. Thats about it.
This week, Tracy and I finally got together to create my registry at Babies R Us. I wish I planned that for a weekend, not a Friday night after work. 2.5 hours in there turns your brain and body to mush. Maybe I should have eaten dinner first. But at least it's done :)
I guess thats enough updates for now...... I'll share a photo of the SWEET Nursery things that my mom got for me! Frogs and Turtles here we come!!

Chris got some Parenting advice....
Chris came home from work on Thursday and told me that he got some parenting advice. This makes me nervous because even though half of his immediate co-workers are parents themselves, the other half are generally irresponsible twenty-somethings. Not knowing who it came from......this made me question the advice.
He then told me it came from Travis. Travis is a father of 3 who was born and raised in rural Maine. I was relieved.
What was the advice? Travis told him to make your kids eat what's for supper. Translate - they get what's made, take it or leave it. It made me very reminiscent of the days of my Mom (love you!) who often made two separate dinners...one for most of the family....and one for Valerie (love you too!).
It'll be interesting to see how things are when the baby is here. I know lots of advice and thoughts sound good now....but might be a different story when it's really here - and prevents a temper tantrum :)

Food for baby
This counts as eating salad for lunch, right? Fruit salad, potato salad, chicken salad.
I wouldn't call it a craving, I'm still just trying to fight reaching for potato chips over fruit and remind myself that ice cream doesn't really count as dairy.
However I am proud to say my body is just starting to look pregnant (finally!). I had to buy new bras (hello c-cup!) and friends and family concur, I have a little belly. But it's a belly not quite worthy of photos.....tbd if ever.
Next up.....boy or girl???? 11 more grueling days!! I sure pray baby cooperates on the 30th!

23 weeks go to!
Well I am now carrying a 5.5 inch sweet potato in my belly. This baby is growing like a weed and in 20 more days we find out the gender!! So exciting. I would say this is the first week that I am officially 'showing'. Before, I just felt bloated. Now I actually feel fat. Which my neighbor Terry keeps reminding me "thats terrible! You are pregnant, you shouldn't feel fat". But I do.....that is life. Until I get that big cute round belly.... I'll probably just feel fat.
I'm still feeling really well, although on days that I try to workout, I'm exhausted by 7:30pm. My body just can't take it like it used to. So I'm going to start doing more walking and less aerobics. Which includes my favorite summer sport, playing golf!
Our first baby gift was from Aunt Pam. It was an adorable hand knit baby hat in yellow and white. Baby R Thanks you!! We have since received two other gifts, a hand drawn picture (from our God son, Noah) and a Bumblebee Stuffed animal from our neighbor Linda. This baby is already feeling so loved by our family and friends and can't wait to meet you all :)

My appointment last week went great! I think the best part (aside from hearing the heartbeat) was that we arrived 15 minutes early (as the hospital always requests), they took us 5 min early and we were out within 30 minutes. That's a record! The Baby's heartbeat was very strong - around 150 and while we were listening to it, the nurse said that she heard a kick and then the heartbeat jumped into the 160's. I couldn't hear it, of course, but I'll take her word for it. Glad to hear baby's moving and active! The other awesome part is that we made the appointment for the fetal scan, which includes the size of all of the 'long bones' as well as determining the gender! I can't wait and May 30th can come soon enough :)
On another note... I've been getting very good at making some interesting and delicious mocktails in the past few weeks :) It was especially key before we started telling everyone that we're expecting. My favorite bar drink is club soda, cranberry and lime. At home I tend to drink flavored carbonated water cut with gatorade with some sort of pretty garnish....lemon, lime or pomegranate seeds! My Gatorade concoction is so good my friend Allie requests them when she comes over :)
So if you see something yummy showing up on Facebook or Instagram, don't worry. I'm just being creative again. :) This warm weather is just begging for a refreshing drink in a pretty glass!
